Good but not excellent. - Metal Gear Solid: The Official Strategy Guide is one of the first guides made in association with Piggyback Interactive, but it s not the best Metal Gear Solid guide out there. While it comes equipped with bios developed from the game s story, very well developed maps and strategies on how to beat the bosses of the game, it just doesn t have an in-depth look the same way Metal Gear Solid 2: The Official Guide did.For example, there is no detailed explanation for the ranks in the guide. At least MGS 2 had the excuse of having no less than 49 ranking names! The layout is slightly clumsy as well.But with weapon guides, player bios, well laid out strategies and a secrets section that gives enough of the game away (except for the Codec calls, which aren t detailed) this is a very respectable game guide, and a fine first effort by Piggyback Interactive and Dimension Publishing.
